EOP Kalmanovitz Academy
EOP Kalmanovitz Academy is a dynamic first-year program designed to assist new EOP students in creating support networks and expanding academic and critical analysis skills. The EOP Kalmanovitz Academy is a learning community tailored to meet your needs and help you successfully transition from high school to the university. The goal of EOP Univ 102 is to help EOP students form a shared “safe” community of their peers in a multicultural classroom environment that directly addresses and helps students effectively navigate the developmental stages inherent in achieving a sense of fuller inclusion, “fitting in” to the larger middle-class normed college community. The subject is immersed in social justice and equity issues and is designed to give meaning to individual life experiences. In addition to receiving in-class academic support and instruction in college success skills, you will also be offered a range of educational, recreational, social, and cultural activities designed to help you increase your involvement in and satisfaction with campus life; and start you on the road to becoming a successful Sonoma State University student.
The Educational Opportunity Program Academy is designed to provide academic and social support for our incoming EOP first-time first-year participants by creating a learning community. Incoming students will enroll in a block of classes with approximately 25 other EOP FTFY. Here is an example of this block schedule:
- English 101 or ENGL 100A (3 units)
- Gen Education - Usually an AMCS/SOC/CALS course (3-4 units)
- Major Course (3 units)
